Install

git clone https://github.com/vais/dotfiles.git
dotfiles/sync

Sync

~/dotfiles/sync

On macOS/Linux, sync also runs stow --restow for all packages.

On Windows, use sync.bat (no GNU Stow).

Bash Profile Management

bash/ now contains a Stow-managed ~/.bash_profile that loads files from:

• ~/.config/bash/profile.d/*.bash (shared, tracked in this repo)

Machine-specific overrides are loaded from:

• ~/.bash_profile.local

Use ~/.config/bash/examples/local.bash.example as a template for local-only settings. Keep secrets in ~/.bash_profile.local (not in tracked repo files), for example: AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID, AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY, and AWS_REGION.

Vim

Installing

git submodule add PLUGIN_URL vim/.vim/pack/plugins/start/PLUGIN_NAME
git commit -m "Install PLUGIN_NAME"

Updating

~/dotfiles/update/vim

Removing

cd ~/dotfiles
git submodule deinit vim/.vim/pack/plugins/start/PLUGIN_NAME
git rm vim/.vim/pack/plugins/start/PLUGIN_NAME
rm -rf .git/modules/vim/.vim/pack/plugins/start/PLUGIN_NAME
git commit -m "Remove PLUGIN_NAME"

Neovim

Installing

git submodule add PLUGIN_URL nvim/.config/nvim/pack/plugins/start/PLUGIN_NAME

Updating
